It seems that the Internet is pervasive, but you have to admit that some things don’t need to be connected to the Internet for the time being, and you don’t have to access the Internet. These things will die out, such as the furniture and lighting switches we use every day. Sometimes it is difficult to change.

Google’s artificial intelligence AlphaoGo has won a great victory in this “human-machine war”. Artificial intelligence has once again been pushed to the public, whether it is the doomsday of human survival crisis or the layout of artificial intelligence by various Internet companies. Before the singularity came, humans had to wait for many years to face the potential dangers of artificial intelligence.

It is imminent that the future of IOT is based on the Internet of Everything: the era of the Internet of Everything has arrived, and human beings are still trapped in the information age of computers and mobile phones.

It is not too early for Internet companies to set up IOTs.

Undoubtedly, in China, in recent years, the Internet +, O2O and other modes have accelerated the integration of the Internet and traditional enterprises, but more is the love between Internet companies and traditional enterprises, such as: Ma Yun With Wang Jianlin's gambling, Lei Jun and Dong Mingzhu's fierce battle, regardless of whether there is a commercial purpose behind it, it is undeniable that the concept of the Internet of Things has been proposed since the 1990s, and the collision between the traditional industry and the Internet will become increasingly fierce.

Large Internet companies have been deployed in the IOT era: Baidu, LeTV, 360, Xiaomi, etc., not to be outdone, all kinds of smart appliances, equipment have begun commercial or testing, such as LeTV and Xiaomi launched smart TV, LeTV electric car, Baidu car network and no Human driving technology, millet water quality test pen, router, water quality, air purifier, etc.

It can be seen that Internet companies are trying to extend from people to things, this is in line with the original intention of the IOT concept, but even so, we must note that the domestic IOT development is not thriving.

Although each company has launched its own smart hardware products, it is more of a single product. For example, many companies have introduced homogenized network routers and webcams. So many companies are more like a home appliance store than a technology-led IoT company.

From the perspective of the IOT layout of traditional Internet companies, the start is still a lot slower. Only a handful of companies have launched products with independent technology patents, such as Baidu's car networking and driverless technology, using maps, navigation, private cloud, voice, security and other technologies to give cars a variety of identification and judgment capabilities, according to the media. It is reported that Baidu is about to test the driverless car in the United States, and has to admit that this is a typical IOT product application.

Many Internet companies that have proposed the concept of IOT are still taking marketing and concept as the mainstay, but they have not fully entered the IOT field.

Technical paradox of Internet company IOT products

In fact, the application of IOT has long been not limited to families. It has been widely used in agriculture, commerce, and industry. When it comes to the application of IOT smart home, the country is still lagging behind abroad. Foreign countries (developed countries in Europe and America) have relatively early start-ups. In terms of wired technology, they have been used earlier and more widely than domestic applications. Some old smart home manufacturers like Control4, Crestron, ABB, etc., have been born in home audio and video. The penetration rate of smart security is relatively high. For example, most of the smart homes in the United States will be installed.

In the existing IOT products of domestic Internet companies, there are some technical paradoxes in technology:

1) IOT's mobile phone

Almost all the intelligent hardware launched by Internet companies in China have a common feature: hardware + APP, and the intelligent hardware launched by a company can sometimes not even communicate through an APP.

This is because domestic Internet companies often absorb some of the teams and acquisition methods through investment or open platforms, quickly push some products to the market, and use their marketing advantages to quickly sell.

In fact, IOT equipment requires a lot of sensing equipment to support. The industry-recognized technical rule is: the future IOT world will be covered by pervasive sensors, which are used to collect and learn relevant data, and finally automatically reach the equipment. The purpose of automatic adjustment, obviously mobile phone + device is not the advantage of IOT, but it has to be abandoned.

2) Internet company's product scene is not enough

In terms of the market's instigation, the Internet company's consistent thinking is a single product explosion, so most of them will sell a single product, or a small suit, and hope to attract a large number of users with a low threshold, thus generating massive data and attracting. The user generates secondary consumption. However, because the product thinking is a single product explosion, the product will be relatively simple, less relevant to other products, it is difficult to bring users a system-level smart home experience.

When expanding the product line, different products may be made by different teams (even different companies), and the interconnection interaction at the system level will be poor.

Therefore, the current number of smart home products of Internet companies cannot support complete IOT applications, such as: from home to community, from community to car networking, and scene utilization.

3) Interactive entry theory of the Internet

The introduction of smart devices is also a hot topic in the past two years. With the intervention of artificial intelligence, domestic Internet companies have painted a blueprint for the public, but from the perspective of international IOT smart home applications, domestic Internet companies are strategically speaking. They are not good at making so many products. They are more concerned with the user's data, so they will put all the data exchanges into the cloud. The result is a decline in the user experience, such as delays, no network disconnection. Wait.

From the perspective of IoT technology, the industry has been mentioning M2M (Machine-to-Machine), that is, devices are able to exchange information with each other autonomously. This premise is that there are enough products and sensors, which means that users do not need to Operate and set up through the mobile app, this is the premise of no artificial intelligence.

Coupled with artificial intelligence and Machine Learning, the future of the Internet of Things will be off-the-shelf, decentralized, and form the true intelligence of the Internet of Everything.

Therefore, Internet companies lack products, rely on data, and emphasize the power of APP, and even social and e-commerce attributes, which is also contrary to IOT.

Smart home unicorn may come from traditional businesses

In the international arena, the most dazzling star in the smart home field is undoubtedly the existing giants such as Google, Samsung and Apple. However, even if Google acquired the smart home device startup Nest for $3.2 billion, Nest is backed by Google’s big tree and acquired Cloudcam’s cloud camera maker Dropcam for $555 million, but Google is still not a big hit in the smart home space. Similarly, Samsung and Samsung have accumulated relevant patents and owned various smart home appliances. At the same time, they also acquired smartThings, a smart home platform, for $200 million. However, Samsung Electronics or Samsung Electronics is not a leader in the smart home field.

The development of domestic Internet companies seems to be a bit slow, but traditional enterprises are all exerting their strength. For example, Huawei has released the Hilink protocol after Apple Homekit, which is a link point of the LiteOS IoT operating system launched by Huawei earlier, similar to Apple. Homekit, which is compatible with multiple communication protocols such as ZigBee, WiFi and Bluetooth, is called "Mandarin" between IoT devices.

The Hilink is more dependent on the support of traditional enterprise equipment. The domestic traditional enterprise “wulian” has more than 280 products and 46 invention patents directly in the platform as the industry's first. The current valuation is over 3 billion. It is still difficult for Internet companies to surpass this number. At present, the needs of users at the current stage are based on the original functions of the products. Before the added value has not been highlighted, the accumulation of product experience established by traditional enterprises for many years has a first-mover advantage. These are not available to Internet companies. The combination of Huawei and "wulian" is bound to bring great pressure to Internet companies.

The domestic Internet seems to want to define the IOT standard by itself, but what can be seen is that there are internationally established agreements such as the Zigbee Alliance, and many Fortune 500 companies have been operating in this field for many years. The practice of domestic Internet companies cannot actually alleviate the current situation. Lack of product dilemma, but the technical threshold is getting higher and higher, the original software technology advantages of Internet companies may not be able to subvert the existing industry pattern in a short period of time. The advantages of traditional enterprises are related to established product awareness, brand and More grounded gas landing, after-sales channels are perfect, in contrast, the time left for Internet companies is really not much.
